Christmas Greetings!

Hello, and welcome! I hope you're staying warm and cozy as winter begins to settle in. I'm sharing a new Christmas card here and on the Maja Design Blog today. I'm super excited because it's my first time working with Maja Design's brand new paper collection, Christmas Season, and I'm completely in love with it!

The papers are distressed, layered, and stitched, forming a base for the embellishments. An image from the paper collection makes for a perfect sentiment and focal point.

A wintery collection of florals anchors the sentiment, while a trio of tiny bells jingle cheerily whenever the card is moved about. Frosty touches of gesso add an icy chill to the florals and around the edges of the card, and a loopy twine bow ties everything together.

Above is a peek of the interior of the card, where there is plenty of space to write a personal note.

Have you finished your holiday crafting yet? It's not too late to pick up some of these gorgeous new papers to share in your beautiful cards and projects. I know you'll love them as much as I do! Thank you so much for stopping by today and spending time with me! I wish you a healthy and happy Christmas, along with many blessings throughout the New Year!

Hugs,

A Very Merry Christmas!

Hello, and happy Monday! How was your week? Did you have a chance to get in some crafty time?

It was a lovely weekend in Charleston. I was delighted to attend the 2018 Scottish Games and Highland Gathering at Boone Hall Plantation, and though I didn't find my beloved Jamie Fraser (from Outlander), I did TRY to find him (see photo below-lol)! I also devoured every last bite of a meat pie, which was absolutely delicious, and got in a bit of shopping. I now have several new scarves from clans which my family does not belong to, but I have an addiction to scarves (seriously), and couldn't stop myself from adding to my collection.

After a long day outdoors, I came home and pulled out all of my Christmas goodies! I started cutting and stitching, and have my very first Christmas card to show for it. I'm posting on the Maja Design Blog today, so this card came in just under the wire. I'm working with the "I Wish" paper collection. I love the warmth and festive cheer of these papers. Just looking at them makes me want to bake up a batch of holiday goodies while singing my favorite carols, then curling up on my sofa to watch a marathon of Hallmark Christmas movies.

Several layers of papers are stitched together and topped with a die cut oval, then embellished with winter florals and die cut images from the paper collection.

A dusting of gesso adds a wintery chill, and for the final touch (drum roll please...) a bow!! There's always going to be a bow-lol.

There is plenty of space for a greeting on the interior of the card.

Thank you so much for being here with me today! I wish we could sit down to a cup of tea and talk all things crafty. We really should do that, because if there can be Highland Gatherings, there can certainly be crafty gatherings. May your week be filled with love, happiness, and the joy of creativity!

Sending hugs from my corner of the world to yours,

Autumn Harvest

Hello, sweet friends! I hope you're having a beautiful and delightful day. I'm presenting on the Maja Design Blog today, and I have a brand new card to share.

I'm playing with Maja Design's Walking in the Forest papers once again, because I'm completely in love with this season. To quote Winnie the Pooh, it's "a time for hot chocolatey mornings, and toasting marshmallow evenings, and best of all, leaping into leaves!"

The rich, gorgeous colors in this collection are absolute perfection for creating leafy autumnal projects!

Honestly, the papers do all of the work for you, bringing the change of seasons to life on the page. I'm layering and distressing each of my layers, then stitching them together on my sewing machine.
You don't need to add stitching, but I feel like it gives it 'that little something extra'.

The floral spray provides a focal point as it tumbles down the front of the card, drawing from the colors in the collection. Even the leaves are die cut from the collection then tucked in amongst the flowers and berries.

I'm doing a bit of rubber stamping on the exterior and interior of the card, as well as with the sentiment used to create the band encircling the bouquet.

Below you'll find a peek of the inside with coordinating stamping. Of course, you'll also find a bow. I always feel like my cards aren't truly finished without one.

Thank you so much for spending time with me today. May this day be one of promise and joy, and may all your crafty dreams come true!

Hugs,

Count Your Blessings

Hello! Welcome, welcome, welcome!! I hope you're having a great day. All is well here, with lots of happy time spent in my craft room.

It's already the first week of October, and many of you are already reveling in the refreshing brace of fall. It's still in the 90's in Charleston, so we have to wait a couple of months to enjoy those cooler temperatures.

To escape the heat we're planning a mountain holiday, where we'll partake in all the delights of autumn, including nature's glorious display of color. The Smoky Mountains, always teaming with abundance and life, transition from the lush green of summer, to every shade of orange, yellow, red, olive, and brown. It's a sight of such beauty that it seems almost otherworldly, like something out of a story book. That's where I got my inspiration for today's card that I'm sharing on the Maja Design Blog, and there could be no better paper collection to bring it to like than Maja Design's Walking in the Forest.

The beautiful design papers are distressed and stitched to form a multi-layered base.

Purchased paper flowers and die cut leaves of multiple varieties comprise the floral spray, anchoring and drawing the eye to the focal point of die cut tags and bird stamps, all created using the paper collection.

The sentiment is hand stamped using archival ink.

Finishing touches include a loopy twine bow, fall berries, and a dusting of gesso here and there.

I'm off to bring some semblance of order to my craft room. It's not always the tidiest of spaces, but it never fails to be the comfiest. It's my own personal Hobbit-hole, where I'm never far from a tea kettle and a cozy day of crafting.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I wish you the loveliest of days filled with all things good and wonderful. I hope you'll have plenty of time to work on your own creations, and especially hope you'll share them at the Maja Design Mood Board Challenge, where you can win an entire collection of Maja Design paper of your choosing!

Hugs,

Spread Joy

Hello, and welcome to all of my sweet friends! I hope you're well and enjoying the advent of the fall season. I'm having a joyful day filled with flower making, stamping, and playing with my pretty Maja Design papers, all of which has led to this new card to share with you, as well as on the Maja Design Blog

I'm using Maja Design's Fika collection again this week, because I'm absolutely in love with purple, and this collection is filled with every hue of this beloved color. I'm working primarily with the deepest purple in the collection (almost a purple-blue), with accents in lighter tones.

I'm like a kid at Christmas with some new stamps I have in my collection, and have been busily stamping away, finding new ways to use them in my projects.

I'm also in flower making mode. I love creating flowers from Maja Design papers. It's the best paper I've ever found for this purpose, and when I take the time to make my own, my flowers perfectly coordinate with each project. I have tutorials for these roses here on my blog for anyone who would like to give them a try.

The leaves are die cut and tucked in amongst the florals, along with autumnal berries resin frames, and a natural twine bow.

I'm now sitting at my very messy craft desk, blissfully surrounded by layer upon layer of Maja Design goodness, and I'm counting my blessings to have had a chance to create something today. Taking the time to use our hands, minds, and energy doing something we love is so important to our mental and physical health. I hope you'll be able to find some quiet moments in your day to bring your masterpieces to life.

I would especially love it if you'd point me in the direction of your own gorgeous creations. I wish you a week filled with love, magic, and crafty adventures!

Hugs,

Wonder, Believe, Inspire!

I wish a very happy hello to all of my dear friends! I hope you're having a lovely Monday. I've been away since May due to a shoulder injury, and can't tell you how thrilled I am to be mostly recovered and back in my craft room again. I'm back just in time to share a new card on the Maja Design Blog  featuring Maja Design's Fika collection, and my favorite color; purple.

Each layer of paper is distressed and stitched. A bouquet of handmade flowers provides a cheery focal point, with die cut rose leaves and  loopy twine bows entwined throughout.

I have a few new stamp sets I'm using with this card. I've been waiting a long time to be back with all my crafty goodies, and couldn't resist bringing them out to play!

If you look closely you'll find resin butterflies fluttering amongst the blooms.

Finally, a touch of gesso for a shabby chic finish.

Thank you all so much for stopping in today. I've missed being here, but have spent my time being inspired by all of your gorgeous creations during my convalescence. May your week be filled with the joyful presence of those you love, and many happy moments in creative pursuits!

Hugs,
